Sport Programming for Underserved Youth

Provided by Chill Foundation

Chill helps young people facing barriers - such as poverty, group homes, the justice system, or mental-health challenges - access board-sports programs that build confidence, community, and positive life skills.
Chill Vancouver's programs serve youth aged 11–19, helping them develop new skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of board sports. They do this by organizing and running snowboard, skateboard, surfing, and stand up paddleboarding programs, pairing the fun, challenge, and experience of learning to ride a board with core values that cross over into everyday life.

Chill Vancouver partners with social service organizations, mental health agencies, juvenile justice programs, and schools in local communities to engage youth participants. Interested organizations can contact Chill to fill out an online application. Interested individuals can contact partnered agencies to join the program.

All gear and services needed to enjoy board-sports are provided to youth at no cost. Agencies pay a $55-$75 application fee per program (cost varies depending on the location/sport). This is a one-time fee and not dependent on the number of youth an agency is applying for.
